You must be above 18 married or in a de facto relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen. You will be granted a two-year provisional visa leading to a PRV.
Applicant’s dependent children can be added in the visa application. This is a multiple entry visa with healthcare and other benefits.
One will qualify for a spouse visa if:
- You are married to an Australian citizen or a permanent resident
- You are in a long-term relationship with an Australian citizen or a permanent resident
- You are in a de-facto relationship with an Australian citizen or a permanent resident
- You are in an interdependent relationship with an Australian citizen or a permanent resident
A spouse visa is initially given on a temporary basis for two years. If the applicant is able to prove the relationship is ongoing and genuine, at the end of the two-year period, the applicant will be granted a permanent visa.
